Christopher Olson, O.D.



Dr. Olson was born in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa and graduated from Iowa State University With Distinction.  He is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of the Illiniois College of Optometry and did his externship at the Westside (Jesse Brown) V.A. Medical Center in Chicago. He started Complete EyeCare Center after moving back to Mt. Pleasant and was in solo practice until 2017, when he joined the Eye Physicians and Surgeons team.

He was named Iowa's Young O.D. of the Year in 1992 and O.D. of the Year in 2000.  He has served the state association on Membership/Communication, Education, and Legislative committees.  He became a Fellow in the American Academy of Optometry in 1994 and is pursuing Diplomate status in the Comprehensive Eye Care Section.  He served originally as Secretary of the State Board of Examiners from 2001-2005 and then was Chair of that organization until 2009.  At that time he was named a member of the national Accreditation Council on Optometric Education (ACOE) that accredits all optometric residencies and schools/colleges of Optometry across the nation, as well as in Canada and Puerto Rico.  He has also served as Clinical Examiner for the National Board of Examiners in Optometry.

He is Board Certified in the American Board of Certification in Medical Optometry (ABCMO) and maintains special interests in ocular surface disease (Dry eye), retinal disorders and prevention of macular degeneration.

Outside of the office, he has volunteered and been a past board member for Mt. Pleasant Kiwanis, the Mt. Pleasant Public Library, the Mt. Pleasant REC Center, and his church.  He enjoys fitness activities of all types and music, especially playing the guitar.

He has been blessed with a supporting wife, two adult daughters and six wonderful grandchildren with whom he loves spending time.
